Inle Lake- Situated on the Shan Plateau at an altitude of 900 m above the sea level and accessible only by road. One would be astonished to see such a big lake situated at such an altitude and surrounded by mountains. The inhabitants (Intha) cultivate on the artificial floating islands. Their unique way of fishing is one of the curiosities for visitors. The way they row their boats with one leg is also unique. The silkware woven on this lake is ranked to
be the best quality in Myanmar.It
is also interesting to see Buddha statues
which have lost their original forms because
of the thick coverings of gold in the most
revered Phaung Daw Oo pagoda on the lake.

Pindaya
Pintaya- A small town accessible only by road is very well known for its limestone caves. The curious number of Buddha statues inside exceeds 8000. These statues are found to date back to the 18th century. The region is principally inhabited by the Danu people living on the tea plantations on the mountain slopes.
